How does the auto-discount (try-on discount code) work?
FitMagik can automatically reward shoppers who try on a product with a unique, single-use discount code shown right on their try-on result. It's an effective nudge that drives 2–4× higher conversion from try-on to purchase.
The feature is optional. When it is disabled, shoppers can still complete virtual try-ons normally, but FitMagik will not create or show a discount code after the result.
How to enable it
- Open the FitMagik Dashboard → Settings
- Find the "Auto-discount on try-on" section
- Toggle "Enable auto-discount" on
- Set your options and click Save discount settings
| Setting | What it does | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Discount percentage | The % off the code gives (1–50%) | 10–15% — a strong nudge without eroding margin |
| Expires after (days) | How long the code stays valid (1–90 days) | 3–7 days — a shorter expiry creates urgency |
How it works for shoppers
After every successful try-on, FitMagik creates a unique single-use Shopify discount code (for example TRYON-A1B2) and shows it to the shopper on the result screen. The code:
- Is valid for the number of days you set
- Applies to any product in your store
- Works at checkout like any other Shopify discount
Every generated code also appears in your Shopify admin under Discounts.
Common questions
Can a shopper use the same code more than once?
No. FitMagik creates each try-on code with a usage limit of 1, so it is intended for a single checkout.
Does the discount apply only to the product that was tried on?
Currently, FitMagik creates a store-wide percentage discount. The shopper can use the code at checkout like a normal Shopify discount code.
Where can I find generated codes later?
Open Shopify admin → Discounts. FitMagik codes start with TRYON- and are created as Shopify discount codes, so you can review them from the same place as your other discounts.
What happens if discount creation fails?
The try-on still completes. Discount creation is non-blocking, so a Shopify API issue or missing permission will not stop shoppers from seeing their try-on result.
Permissions note
To create discount codes, FitMagik needs the discounts permission (write_discounts). If you just turned this feature on and codes aren't being created, you may need to reinstall the app once to grant the new permission — you'll see a banner in Settings if this step is required.
